A Time for Winter (PDF)
"The slabs of ice caked over my irises / will melt into lakes, / these lips one day will bloom." - from A Time for Winter
My debut poetry collection, A Time for Winter, takes you through the hard seasons of my life and my journey toward healing. Just like Earth, we, too, go through seasons, and each one serves a purpose. In my wintriest season, I chose to go inward; feel the hurt and dead weight of anxiety, depression, and regret over the past; sit with them; then release them so that the real work could begin: stillness, self care, healing.
Drawing on nature and seasonal phenomena, A Time for Winter uses universal imagery and metaphor to connect my personal experience with the reader’s so that they may feel seen and understood and begin their own journey toward healing.
Praise for A Time for Winter:
"...powerful and gripping, emotionally evocative, and I found pieces of myself in every line." - Ashley Jane, poet and author of Love, Lies and Lullabies
"...motifs which once were bound to feelings of desperation and loss, morph into vessels for hope. This is a result of Quinn’s craft - her nuanced understanding of progression and structure." - Kristiana Reed, poet and author of Flowers on the Wall and EIC of Free Verse Revolution
